This policy applies to TR TRANSPORT RENTAL PTY LTD and all Australian based subsidiary companies, including:

Any reference to TR TRANSPORT RENTAL PTY LTD in this document is taken to be inclusive of all subsidiary companies.
TR TRANSPORT RENTAL PTY LTD (we, us, our) complies with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (the Act) and follows the Australian Privacy Principles (APP) when dealing with personal information. Personal information is information about an identifiable individual (a natural person).
This policy sets out how we will collect, use, disclose and protect your personal information.

What information do we collect (APP 1.4(a))
We may collect personal information related to you, including your:

- Billing or purchase information
- History of interactions with us
- Driver License Number
- National Student Number
- Vehicle and course preferences
- Training history
- IP address
- Other information related to providing products and services to you
Who do we collect your personal information from (APP 1.4(b))
We collect personal information about you from:
- You, when you provide that personal information to us, including via the website and any related service, through any registration or subscription process, through participation in our training classes, through any contact with us (e.g. telephone call or email), or when you buy or use our services and products.
- Third parties where you have authorised this or the information is publicly available.
If possible, we will collect personal information from you directly.
Information is held on our servers housed in Australia and in New Zealand and in Microsoft Cloud services.
If you do not wish to provide your personal information
Providing some information is optional. For example, you may wish to withhold vehicle preference information. In the event you withhold optional information, we will endeavour to continue to provide our products and services to you.
Though we endeavour to minimise the information we collect, you must provide certain personal information for us to be able to provide certain products and services. For example, you must provide a valid driver license if you wish to hire a vehicle. If you choose not to provide requested information, we may be unable to provide you with the products and/or services requested.
Please let us know if you do not wish to provide certain information and we will clarify whether that information is required for us to provide the product or service requested by you.
How we use your personal information (APP 1.4(c))
We will use your personal information to:
- Verify your identity
- Provide services and products to you
- Market our services and products to you, including contacting you electronically (e.g. by text or email for this purpose)
- Improve the services and products that we provide to you
- Undertake credit checks of you (if necessary)
- Bill you and to collect money that you owe us, including authorising and processing credit card transactions
- Respond to communications from you, including a complaint
- Conduct research and statistical analysis (on an anonymised basis)
- Protect and/or enforce our legal rights and interests, including defending any claim
- For any other purpose authorised by you or the Act
Disclosing your personal information (APP 1.4(c))
We may disclose your personal information to:
- Another company within our group of companies
- Any business that supports our services and products, including any person that hosts or maintains any underlying IT system or data centre that we use to provide the website or other services and products
- A credit reference agency for the purpose of providing credit information
- Other third parties (for anonymised statistical information)
- A person who can require us to provide your personal information (e.g. a regulatory authority)
- Any other person authorised by the Act or another law (e.g. a law enforcement agency)
- Any other person authorised by you
Where your data is held and processed (APP 1.4(f) and APP 1.4(g))
Our primary data centers for Australian operations are in Australia and primary handling and processing of your personal information is likely to be in Australia.
Our parent company is located in New Zealand. This means your personal information may be held and processed in New Zealand if your information is shared with our parent company.
Additionally, we occasionally utilise overseas vendors to provide products and services to the TR Group group of companies. Whilst not practical to include all possible locations, the most likely country outside of Australia for your information to be held and processed is New Zealand.
Protecting your personal information
We will take reasonable steps to keep your personal information safe from loss, unauthorised activity, or other misuse.
Retaining your personal information (APP 1.4(c))
We will retain your information for as long as is reasonably required to:
- Verify your identity
- Provide services and products to you
- Market our services and products to you, including contacting you electronically (e.g. by text or email for this purpose)
- Improve the services and products that we provide to you
- Undertake credit checks of you (if necessary)
- Bill you and to collect money that you owe us, including authorising and processing credit card transactions
- Respond to communications from you, including a complaint
- Conduct research and statistical analysis (on an anonymised basis)
- Protect and/or enforce our legal rights and interests, including defending any claim
- Comply with regulatory or legislative requirements
- For any other purpose authorised by you or the Act
Accessing and correcting your personal information (APP 1.4d)
Subject to certain grounds for refusal set out in the Act, you have the right to access your readily retrievable personal information that we hold and to request a correction to your personal information. Before you exercise this right, we will need evidence to confirm that you are the individual to whom the personal information relates.
In respect of a request for correction, if we think the correction is reasonable and we are reasonably able to change the personal information, we will make the correction. If we do not make the correction, we will take reasonable steps to note on the personal information that you requested the correction.

Complaining about a breach of the Australian Privacy Principles (APP 1.4(e))

We are committed to protecting your privacy and as such, we treat all complaints very seriously. Our Privacy Officer will address your concerns with our company directors and contact you to discuss the outcome.
If we do not respond to you within 30 days, or you are not satisfied with our response, you are entitled to lodge a “Privacy Complaint Form” with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. Internet Use
While we take reasonable steps to maintain secure internet connections, if you provide us with personal information over the internet, the provision of that information is at your own risk.
If you follow a link on our website to another site, the owner of that site will have its own privacy policy relating to your personal information. We suggest you review that site’s privacy policy before you provide personal information.
